On Monday, the 8th of July 2019, the Adventist Medical Center-Valencia City (AMCV) Conference room was packed with fifty four health care providers and professional rescuers enthralled to engage in the Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Training Course. The eager anticipation of the participants was felt in the room. They hoped for the best to happen, and it did.
The opening program started with the Singing of the National Anthem and Bukidnon Hymn. The opening prayer was offered by Pastor Raymund T. Gustilo of the Pastoral Care Service Department. Ms. Angelie L. Abesta, the AMCV Director of Nursing Service, delightedly welcomed the guests and participants. She also did the honor of introducing the esteemed instructors.
The 3-day training was jam-packed with current and crucial topics on life saving methodologies, and the attendees from AMCV and other neighboring hospitals said there was never a dull moment; everything was vital.
The training course offered the following topics: (ASHI) BLS Training Course with Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Use and Intubation Skills Workshop (2015 AHA Guidelines), (ASHI) ACLS Training Course for Nurses with ECG Interpretation, ACLS Pharmacology, AED and Intubation Skills Workshop (2015 AHA Guidelines), and Electrocardiogram (ECG) Rhythm Interpretation with Arrhythmic Recognition Skills Workshop with Clinical Assessment and Management, ACLS Pharmacology. The course covered 30 hours of lecture and workshop with PRC approved CPD credit units.
The dynamic and powerful resource speaker, Mr. Jonathan Phillip S. Obregon, and his equally competent wife Ms. Grace A. Obregon, generously shared their expertise and knowledge to all. Both are accredited instructors of American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI, U.S. A.) and Emergency Care Courses of Basic Lifesaving Solutions Training Center based in Cebu City, Philippines.
Return demonstrations and workshops fortified the skills of the participants. Carefully and meticulously, the instructors mentored everyone. The participants embraced the training wholeheartedly and took turns in demonstrating their newly acquired skills .
On the whole, the Training Course was successful and fun-filled. Most of the trainees expressed how much they appreciated the training and how blessed they were. Now, they look forward to the next exciting training to be offered, and by God’s grace, the next training will happen very soon.
