AMCV Welcomes Its New President for 2019-2020

Adventist Medical Center-Valencia City, Inc. (AMCV) would like to welcome Janellie C. Sumatra as the new president of the institution for the years 2019-2020.

The election of the president was held on January 28, 2019 at South Philippine Union Conference (SPUC), Upper Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City by the Board of Trustees of AMCV. The election was made necessary when the outgoing president, Edgardo D. Torniado, was elected as the first treasurer of Central Mindanao Adventist Mission (CMAM), the newest mission in SPUC, with its territory covering the majority area of the province of Bukidnon and part of Lanao del Sur. After weeks of prayer asking for a new leader, God paved the way for Mrs. Janellie C. Sumatra, the Vice President for Nursing Affairs, to be the new leader of the institution to lead out the medical ministry in Valencia City.

AMCV new president

Mrs. Janellie Curilan-Sumatra was born and raised in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte. She is married to Pastor Clyde Tolentino Sumatra, presently the chairperson of the School of Theology in Mountain View College. God blessed them with two (2) boys, Jea Son Clyde and Jezer Clyde. Mrs. Sumatra started her work in the denomination as a nurse in Adventist Medical Center-Iligan (formerly Mindanao Sanitarium and Hospital). In 2002, she was called to work as a Clinical Instructor for the School of Nursing in Mountain View College until 2012. In 2012, she was again called to serve in the hospital but this time in Adventist Medical Center-Valencia City as the Director of Nursing Services until 2018. She became the Vice-President for Nursing Affairs in 2018 prior to her election as the president.

Our special thanks to our Almighty God for His goodness to AMCV and to Mr. Edgardo D. Torniado for his wise leadership and great contribution from 2015-2018.
